Retreats & Pilgrimages

Over many years The Dewsbury Minster congregation, with those of the other Team Churches, has taken part in retreats and pilgrimages.

In 2004 the congregation, ‘Walked in the steps of St. Hilda’, grandniece of Edwin, High King of Northumbria. Like the Anglo Saxons of Dewsbury, Edwin and Hilda heard the message of Paulinus and were baptised by him.

From their faith there grew a Christian presence in a pagan land. They founded the Minster Church at York and The Abbey at Whitby, where Christians have played their part in serving Christ, His Church and the people, throughout the ages. We walked in Hilda’s footsteps then, and continue her tradition of service here at Dewsbury Minster now.
