Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church and the Trinity Centre, Batley Carr

Who Are We?

Holy Trinity Church is part of the Dewsbury Team Parish, which is made up of 3 churches, each with its own style of ministry, reflecting the diversity of the communities it serves. The church has undergone extensive refurbishment and improvement so that it can continue it’s work in the Batley Carr area.

Our church serves the Batley Carr area and supports local people in a myriad of ways. Members of the community are always warmly welcomed to share activities and worship.

The Trinity Centre is housed within the church and is regularly used by all members of the local community for various activities, and as a community space that can be hired.

Our Aims

  • To grow in faith – as a Church through teaching, prayer and witness.
  • To reach out to the local community – through new and old links already forged by the Trinity Centre, and through all our Church events.
  • To reach out to welcome local people – from all parts of the community and into our Church family.

Holy Trinity is a Victorian Church built in 1842 to serve the population of Batley Carr. The mills and factories of yesteryear have largely disappeared, and terrace and back to back houses have been largely been replaced by social and private housing.

In the late 1990’s the Church took the decision to apply for funding to alter and refurbish the building, giving two thirds of our original building to the local community, which is now known as the Trinity Centre. This is run by an independent management committee although the building still belongs to the Church.

The Community Centre is mainly run by Church members so God’s work and purpose is very much alive in Batley Carr.
